Kicki Yang Zhang, known as @kickiyangz on Instagram, is one of the biggest names in the beauty world, with a following of over 325,000. Alongside her impressive online following, she’s collaborated with brands such as ASICS and Calvin Klein, appeared in magazine spreads for the likes of Vogue Germany and can be regularly spotted at fashion shows globally
Despite her success, Kicki’s journey into the world of beauty was an unusual one. When she was a child, Kicki Yang Zhang had her heart set on a jet-setting future as a pilot – not one of creativity. While her dreams of commanding a cockpit never worked out, she took notice of her younger sister’s interest in makeup and would sneak into her room to try out new products.
Initially, Kicki’s favourite product was none other than black eye shadow which, like many other millennials, she would liberally apply on her eyelids in order to express her interest in emo and punk scenes. Many years later, she’s refined and developed her style, but subculture, identity and individuality remain important aspects of her approach.

After 23 years in the hairdressing industry, Alexander Fehrenbach-Voit knows a thing or two about creating the perfect ‘do.
With a career spanning over two decades, Alexander Fehrenbach-Voit is a hair stylist and colourist you need to know. By merging both craft and creativity, he’s gained major renown in his field, attracting the attention of celebrities from his home country of Germany and further afield.
For this special hair transformation shoot with Schwarzkopf, Alexander worked with the artist, model and content creator Kicki Yang Zhang (AKA @kickiyangz) to create two sublime hair looks.
First up, a choppy punk rock style featuring both black and bleached strands. To create the look, he used some Schwarzkopf faves: IGORA VARIO Blond Super Plus Lightening Powder followed by IGORA Vibrance 0-55 for the yellow and CHROMA ID blue colour mask, while mixing 0-33 and 1,9 of IGORA VIBRANCE Activator Lotion for the darker hair. Then going back to black for an old Hollywood look, he used IGORA VIBRANCE 1-0 and 1,9% Gel to create Kicki’s glossy dark hair and added OSiS Curl Jam and SESSION LABEL The Strong to create a slick finger wave.
