From sun exposure and humidity to sea salt and chlorine, summer can be extremely tough on hair. Classic signs of hair damage to look out for during the summer months are a change in colour tone, split ends and breakage, occurring when UV rays and external aggressors strip the hair of its vital moisture.

1. Form a protective shield for your hair before stepping out in the sun

Prevention is better than cure, so do what you can to avoid intense sun exposure. Anything from hats, hair scarfs or a product with a UVA/UVB filter provides a much-needed protective barrier to prevent exposure to the sun’s harmful rays. 3. Minimise additional heat

Avoid styling tools which can dry out your hair further. Heat breaks bonds in the hair structure which can cause permanent damage to the hair itself. 4. Brave the chop

The summer can be busy but remember to schedule in a summer salon visit.
